We've been sitting on some news, and we can finally share it. The Vale by Ohana Mua has been named a Finalist for New Tourism Business of the Year at the Cornwall Tourism Awards 2026. And that's not all: we're a Finalist for Dog Friendly Business of the Year too, and Commended in two more categories.
Here's the line-up:

Being a Finalist means we're guaranteed a Gold, Silver or Bronze award in both categories. We'll find out which on Thursday 12 November, when the results are revealed at Truro Cathedral.
Why it means so much
The Vale opened in July 2025. It's our very first retreat, so to be recognised in four categories by the people who know Cornish tourism best, little more than a year in, feels pretty special.
New Tourism Business of the Year. We set out to reimagine the Cornish staycation. We took a much-loved spot near Lansallos and reimagined it as an inclusive, accessible retreat with smart tech, thoughtful design, and a warm welcome for everyone.
Dog Friendly Business of the Year. At The Vale, dogs aren't an afterthought. They're family. Up to three dogs are welcome in every lodge and cottage, there's a doggy paddock on site, and Deerpark Forest is right on the doorstep for muddy morning walks.
Regenerative Tourism Award. Everything we do is guided by our energy positive ethos. The Vale is powered by solar, our lodges have copper baths instead of hot tubs, and infrared heating keeps things cosy using less energy. Being Commended here is a lovely nod to the work so far, and a push to keep going.
Self Catering Accommodation of the Year. Six lodges, three cottages, and guest ratings of up to 10 out of 10. We're so proud of the spaces our team has created, and of the people who look after them every day.
