The Vale is in south Cornwall, set within a peaceful woodland and heathland setting. It’s 3 miles from Looe, 5 miles from Polperro, and approximately 15 minutes by car from Fowey. The Eden Project is about 30 minutes away. The location gives you genuine seclusion on site with easy access to the coast.

But you’re a short drive from some of Cornwall’s best beaches including Talland Bay, Lansallos Beach, and Looe Beach. It’s an ideal base if you want the calm of the countryside and the coast within easy reach.

They’re each worth visiting for different reasons. Looe is the most accessible and best for beaches, families, and seafood. Polperro is the most picturesque, a tiny car-free fishing village with a harbour and great coastal walks. Fowey is the most sophisticated, with a strong sailing culture, excellent restaurants, and a rich literary history through Daphne du Maurier. From The Vale you can realistically visit all three in a long weekend.

Yes, and it’s underrated. South Cornwall is milder than most of the UK in winter. The crowds disappear, the coastal paths are dramatic, and a stay in a cosy cottage with a private hot tub or a lodge with a copper bath in the cold is genuinely one of the best ways to experience it. The Vale is open year-round and many guests say a winter visit is their favourite.

The closest and best beaches are Talland Bay, Lansallos Beach, and Looe Beach. Talland Bay and Lansallos are quieter, more secluded coves, ideal if you want to avoid the crowds. Looe Beach is more accessible and great for families. Both Lansallos and Talland Bay are dog-friendly.
 

The Eden Project is approximately 30 minutes by car from The Vale, close enough for a comfortable day trip.

Yes. The South West Coast Path runs through the area and is one of the most celebrated long-distance walking routes in the UK. Shorter coastal walks from Polperro, around Talland Bay, and along the Fowey estuary are all easily accessible from The Vale by car.

Yes. Lansallos Beach and Talland Bay are both dog-friendly beaches within easy reach. The surrounding coastal paths and woodland are also great for dogs. Combined with The Vale’s on-site dog paddock, it’s one of the more dog-friendly options in south Cornwall.
